Harrogate Autumn Flower Show returns to Newby Hall & Gardens from 19th–21st September 2025, bringing together the very best in seasonal horticulture at the UK’s premier autumn gardening event.
Visitors can expect world-class displays of flowers, fruit, and vegetables, live talks and demonstrations, access to Newby’s award-winning gardens, and the chance to explore a stunning series of floral house installations.
With more than 5,000 autumn blooms, expert advice, and plenty for families to enjoy, it’s a celebration of gardening on a grand scale.
Harrogate Autumn Flower Show: What’s On in 2025
1. Access to Newby Hall & Gardens
Your show ticket includes entry to Newby Hall’s award-winning gardens and selected ground-floor rooms of the 18th-century house.
For the occasion, leading floral artists will transform the interiors with breathtaking plant-based installations inspired by the elegance of a 1930s country house weekend.
Step into rooms filled with seasonal blooms, curated by celebrity florist Jonathan Moseley and his team.
2. Incredible Edible
The Incredible Edible Pavilion showcases the season’s finest fruit and vegetables, from giant marrows to delicately grown heritage varieties. Highlights include:
- The National Onion Championship – with the chance of another world record-breaking specimen
- The NEHS Giant Vegetable Competition – monumental marrows, colossal cabbages, and other showstoppers
- The Northern Vegetable Society Championships – dozens of categories celebrating the very best allotment produce
- Displays from R.V. Roger Nursery, one of the country’s leading orchard fruit specialists
3. Rooms for Blooms
Inside Newby Hall, discover lavish floral installations created by leading designers.
Inspired by the hall’s historic interiors, these displays evoke the elegance and decadence of a bygone era, blending seasonal flowers with the architecture of Sir Christopher Wren, John Carr, and Robert Adam.
4. Live Theatres
A packed programme of talks and demonstrations will run across several stages:
- Grow! Live – featuring gardening supremo Martin Fish, plant expert Helen Bainbridge, and plantswoman Sarah Hopps, offering expert tips and seasonal inspiration
- The Human Gardener – informal interviews and discussions led by Sarah Owen-Hughes and Faith Douglas, exploring the links between gardening, nature, and wellbeing
- The Maker’s Table – live demonstrations on preserving, pickling, and seasonal crafts, helping you make the most of the harvest
5. Live Music
The bandstand provides the show’s soundtrack with daily performances:
- Friday 19th September – Harrogate Brass Band, Ripon City Band, Fire & Rescue Pipe Band, Biz Denton (acoustic folk & blues)
- Saturday 20th September – Yorkshire Military Band, Biz Denton, Harrogate Spa Town Ukes, Yorkshire Imperial Band
- Sunday 21st September – Biz Denton, White Rose Concert Band, Hot Aire! Concert Band, Yorkshire Imperial Band
On the terrace, enjoy classical guitar sets from Andrew Clegg (Saturday & Sunday), alongside special performances from All for One Choir on Friday.
6. Garden Advice Bureau
Run by the Chartered Institute of Horticulture, the Garden Advice Bureau is open throughout the show to answer your gardening queries and offer practical tips for your own outdoor space.
7. Family Activities
New for 2025 is the Little Nature Rangers zone, packed with fun outdoor activities designed to help children explore, discover, and connect with nature.
Families can also enjoy Newby Hall’s own adventure playground, miniature train, pedalo boats, and water play areas.
8. Shopping & Markets
Visitors can browse an unrivalled selection of exhibitors across three specialist markets:
- Garden Shopping – tools, greenhouses, plants, ornaments, and everything you need for your outdoor space
- Food & Drink Market – regional produce from artisan bakers, cheesemongers, pie makers, distillers, and more, with tastings available
- Home & Gift Shopping – handmade crafts, jewellery, toys, and unique gifts, perfect for treating yourself or others
Plant and product crèche facilities are available to safely store purchases while you explore the rest of the show.
