DRAW! Project by David Hockney

DRAW! is a year-round creative project inspired by David Hockney, one of Bradford’s most renowned artists.

For over 60 years, Hockney has captured the world around him using everything from pencils to iPads. He first developed his passion for drawing while studying at the Bradford School of Art, which he joined in 1953 at just 16, often sketching the streets of post-war Bradford that surrounded him.

Now, as part of Bradford 2025, everyone across the UK is invited to follow in Hockney’s footsteps by picking up a pencil, pen, or tablet and taking part in a shared drawing project celebrating everyday life.

How to take part:

• Each month in 2025, a different artist sets a new drawing theme.
• In January, David Hockney kicked things off with ‘draw something you find beautiful’.
• Check the latest themes and featured artists on the Bradford 2025 website.
• Share your drawings online at bradford2025.co.uk/mydrawing or post them on social media using #Bradford2025 or tagging @bradford_2025.

Your artwork could appear on the website each month — and may be featured in a special exhibition at the end of the year!
