De Mowbray Music Festival 2025 returns to Thirsk from Thursday 14th to Sunday 17th August, bringing a packed programme of live performances, opera, musicals, and community events to stunning venues across the town.

Founded in 2020 by Benjamin Ellin and Emily Taylor, De Mowbray Music celebrates the power of music to connect and inspire the local community, delivering high-quality events across a wide range of genres—from classical to musical theatre, poetry and film.

🎭 2025 Festival Highlights

🎶 Night at the Musicals
A high-energy festival opener featuring show tunes and love songs performed by Eleanor Sandars, Elizabeth Atkinson and Tom Wright, with a band led by Daniel McLaughlin (MD of the European CATS tour).

🎼 Verdi’s Requiem
The magnificent Durham Voices return alongside the Festival Orchestra, conducted by Benjamin Ellin, to perform Verdi’s powerful masterpiece in one of Thirsk’s most iconic spaces.

📚 Poet’s Corner
A relaxed community stage showcasing poetry, dance and music from local performers of all ages. Enjoy a morning of free entertainment with coffee and cake in the beautiful garden of White Rose Bookshop.

🎭 Don Giovanni
Flat Pack Music joins the Festival Orchestra to present Mozart’s thrilling opera, conducted by Benjamin Ellin. An atmospheric evening under the stars in Thirsk Hall Garden.

🎬 Wallace & Gromit at The Ritz
Enjoy a train-themed concert with the Festival Orchestra, followed by a live-scored screening of The Wrong Trousers. A family-friendly finale in one of the UK’s oldest cinemas.
